Oaktree Capital Management has appointed Alex Prout as head of Asia-Pacific marketing. He will also serve as lead marketing representative for Japan, operating out of the Tokyo office.
With a professional background spanning over 38 years, Prout brings a wealth of experience in business development and marketing within the investment management industry. He has held prominent roles at Nuveen, Deutsche Asset Management, Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Invesco, and Merrill Lynch in both Japan and the United States.
Oaktree, a global investment manager specializing in alternative investments, manages about US$203 billion in assets as of March 31 2025. The firm has offices in 25 cities worldwide, including nine in the Asia-Pacific region – Hyderabad, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Mumbai, Shanghai, Beijing, and Seoul. Its Tokyo office, which opened in 1998, has recently relocated to the Marunouchi Building in central Tokyo.
