AIA Group has appointed Ben Ng as group chief risk officer designate and group executive committee member, effective October 1st. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Lee Yuan Siong, group chief executive and president. Ng will assume the role of group chief risk officer from January 1 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
He joined AIA in 2011 and has held a range of senior executive roles across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, including as chief executive officer of Malaysia, Indonesia, and group corporate solutions.
Ng has championed innovation, strengthened governance, and steered AIA Malaysia’s digital transformation. He was elected president of the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia ( LIAM ), where he continued to advance the industry agenda through regulatory engagement covering agent professionalism, risk management, and sustainability. He holds fellowships with both the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Jayne Plunkett, who has been the group chief risk officer since 2019, will retire from her role on January 1 2026. During her tenure, Plunkett guided AIA through a period of significant regulatory change and further elevated the risk function’s role as a trusted partner to the business and the board.
