Societe Generale has appointed Pei Shen Chou as its head of mergers and acquisitions ( M&A ) for the Asia-Pacific region as part of the bank’s ambition to strengthen its global investment banking platform.
Based in Hong Kong, Chou will report regionally to Stephanie Clement de Givry, head of global banking and advisory for Asia-Pacific, and globally to Patrick Perreault and Juan Manuel Ramirez, global co-heads of M&A.
In this role, Chou will lead the bank’s M&A franchise across the Asia-Pacific, overseeing complex cross-border deals and strategic advisory assignments. In close collaboration with the bank’s industry groups, he will be responsible for driving the origination and execution of M&A transactions that support its strategic priorities across the Asia-Pacific and global banking footprint.
Chou is a senior investment banker with more than 25 years of global experience in M&A and strategic advisory. Most recently, he served as the head of advisory for Asia-Pacific ex-Japan at Nomura and was a member of key management committees.
Prior to Nomura, he held a number of senior leadership roles at UBS, including those of co-head of M&A for Asia-Pacific and co-head of all industries group for Asia. Before that, he was the head of M&A for China at Deutsche Bank.
“As the region continues to present significant strategic and transformational opportunities,” Clement de Givry says, “Chou will play a pivotal role in helping clients navigate a dynamic market environment and achieve their development and value-creation objectives.”
